Yggdrasil – Tree of Life
Afrikaburn, April 2017, South Africa
Yggdrasil, an ambitious project which upon completion was a 27 meters tall, 20 meters wide wooden structure formed as an ancient Baobab tree with a Viking ship suspended amongst its branches. It is a large scale collaborative project, marrying Nordic and African mythology. We envision it as a symbol to inspire people around the world to dare to dream big and collaborate with others to make their vision come to life.
12 led flood lights, hidden as flowers on the inner circle of the structure making this massive structure dance. The spiral way up has 78 individually controlled light bulbs, with all custom created lamp shades.
