About
Thomas Steiner is a light artist known for bringing large scale artworks and spectacular stages to life at night. Born and raised and currently living in Zurich, Switzerland, he has traveled the globe creating a long series of interactive installations, stages, and dance floors.
All of his projects are collaborations with other artists, mainly to incorporate electronic music. Light bulbs, par cans and LED strips combined with projection mapping as key components are his signatures.
Events:
Thomas is most acclaimed for his light shows for stages at festivals like Garbicz in Poland, Bazique, Origin, and Afrikaburn in South Africa and Quest Festival in Vietnam.
From the raves in the underground scene in Zurich up to the international festival scene, Thomas is well known for its work.
Artworks:
In 2016, Thomas created a life-changing show for the Lighthouse at Afrikaburn, putting its name out in the international festival scene overnight. Since then, he returns every season to South Africa, to create lights for some of the leading festivals like Origin, Bazique, Wolfkopp and still pushing the bar of what’s possible for large scale Artworks at Afrikaburn, as Yggdrasil – Tree of Life 2017 and he effigy of Afrikaburn, The San Clan 2019 & 2020 (postponed due to coronavirus outbreak).
Interactive Art:

With running his own business as a light artist since 2019, Thomas creates permanent installations for clubs as well, like Wonderland in Cape Town, and Frieda’s Büxe, Kauz, Sender in Zurich.
